2009 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Mill Station Road
In the Russian River Valley, 2009 will be memorable for its ideal, long growing season. Limited frost damage in April, below normal summer temperatures, and few heat spikes of any duration all contributed to excellent quality fruit with ripe flavors and good texture. Across the board Russian River Valley grapes possess amazing depth and great structure.

RATINGS & REVIEWS
Wine Spectator 90 points
Ripe, with plum, black cherry and berry jam aromas, turning firmer on the palate, with a touch of spice and mint. Complex and inviting.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
In the Russian River Valley and throughout northern California, 2009 will be remembered as one of the coolest vintages on record. But the sun smiled on Pinot Noir throughout the growing season and allowed for slow ripening with lovely fruit flavor development, albeit with lower-than-normal sugars. In mid-October, the vintage was marked by 5 days of torrential rains that affected any of the 15-to-20 percent of the growers who still had grapes left hanging. Fortunately, all of Peter Paul’s grapes were harvested prior to this rain. The long hang time and subsequent physiological maturity have given this vintage a mark of great elegance and finesse.
