Cellar Notes: Our Russian River Pinot noir was made from grapes grown in select vineyards on the west side of the Laguna de Santa Rosa. After hand sorting, the grapes were destemmed and gently punched down in open-top stainless steel tanks during fermentation. As with our Chardonnay, we used a blend of native and non-native yeasts in different lots. After completion of the primary fermentation, we barreled down the free-run and press wine separately, all into French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. The wines then aged for a year prior to bottling without filtration.
Tasting Notes: Silky smooth on the palate and sporting layers of black cherry, cola and cloves, this is a medium-bodied, bright, sexy wine that is almost too easy to drink. It flows with elegance, framed in subtle hints of cinnamon and toasty oak.
