Intensely structured, with ripe, bold tannins, the wine displays a rich core of cassis, blackberry, anise and chocolate. It finishes long with great elegance. This is a single vineyard wine made in a full-bodied style, still tightly wound, yet drinking beautifully now. It also has great cellaring potential.

BEST BUY: The fruit is powerful, with tart, black cherry flavor…has a minty side lending some gentleness to its strong presence.
ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
Napa Valley experienced a cool, dry spring that included an intense period of spring frosts—all of which contributed to a very small crop. But the silver lining came in the form of reduced yields that produced highly concentrated flavors. Consistent summer sunshine with moderate temperatures brought the grapes to full ripeness. A week before our harvest on October 11, a light rain fell. However, the vines dried out nicely to produce beautiful, clean fruit for the cellar.
