Beautifully structured with firm, velvety tannins, the wine offers a refined sense of power and finesse, with layers of cassis, blackberry, licorice, chocolate and herb notes. It’s all seamlessly integrated and drinking beautifully in its youth. However, the wine should cellar well and prove to be quite ageworthy.

ABOUT THE VINEYARD:
In the Napa Valley, 2010 will be remembered as one of the most consistent in recent memory. Moderate, sunny temperatures brought the grapes to a beautifully balanced level of ripeness—that is, until a late harvest heat spike that sent temperatures shooting up to 110-plus degrees pushed some vines right over the edge. Those vineyards with partially shaded canopies fared well, however. Their protected fruit experienced just the right “kiss” of heat to produce intensely ripe grapes.
