Mountain fruit yields wines of intensity.  The small, concentrated grape berries from our Mount Veeder vineyard have produced dark blueberry and plum flavors nuanced by a hint of coffee and chocolate.  Classic herbal notes add a degree of complexity that consistently makes this wine amoung our finest efforts of the vintage.

A very rich, full-bodied wine, packed densely with stone fruit, citrus, spice, almond, and subtle honeyed notes. There is plenty of acidity, however, to give balance and finesse. This is a bold, vivacious and memorable wine that will continue to impress for years to come. Made from grapes grown in the famous vineyard that was part of the blend that won the Paris Tasting of 1976.

Fermentation took place in small French oak casks using mostly native yeast fermentation. Directly after primary fermentation the wine was racked off its gross lees and allowed to sit on fine yeast lees for the next 8 months. After a partial malolactic fermentation, batonnage was used once each month to help provide depth and weight to the wine.

This fine-tuned, silky-textured and well-structured Pinot Noir serves up a hint of earthines, giving it a distinctly Burgundian quality.  It is redolent of plu, cola, cedar and spice - all framed in subtle toast.
