About this wine:
Serracino Vineyard's 80-year-old vines are dry farmed in gravelly soils and produce a small crop that shows great intensity of flavor. The grapes were hand-picked and fermented in small batches, then racked to a blend of French and American oak barrels for aging.
The 2006 vintage was marked by a long stretch of sunny, relatively cool weather at season's end that allowed the grapes to achieve full flavor maturity without becoming overripe. As a result, our wine was marked by excellent body, balanced acidity and supple tannins. It shows the classic flavor profile typical of this vineyard, with hints of black cherry, blackberry, spice, anise and black pepper.
